Karnataka’s guarantee schemes model for country: Tangadagi

Karnataka's five guarantee schemes, costing over ₹50,000 crore annually, have become a model for other states, improving the economic condition of millions of families, announced Backwards Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture Minister Shivraj Tangadagi on Saturday. At the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Koppal, Tangadagi stated that the government had spent ₹1.34 lakh crore on these schemes so far, which have successfully benefited economically and socially vulnerable sections by mainstreaming them.

Describing the present government's three-year term as "meaningful journey" and "people-oriented administration," Tangadagi emphasized the focus on poverty alleviation, social justice, infrastructure development, and economic strengthening. The Gruha Lakshmi scheme saw 3,12,152 beneficiaries in Koppal, receiving ₹1,853 crore, while the Shakti scheme led to 12.72 crore trips by women, generating ₹426.39 crore in ticket value.

The Anna Bhagya scheme benefited 12,01,254 people monthly, with ₹313.92 crore transferred directly to cardholders between July 2023 and December 2025. Tangadagi reported that 2,86,730 beneficiaries registered under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, accounting for 99.02% of eligible beneficiaries, with 54.48% verification completed. Eleven multi-village drinking water schemes, covering 477 villages, were completed in Koppal, with three more in various stages.

The project in Koppal-Bhagyanagar is expected to finish by October-end, and others include the Yelburga-Kuknoor (₹242.23 crore) and Kanakagiri-Karatagi (₹195.79 crore) projects. Tangadagi expressed confidence that K. Raghavendra Hitnal, Koppal MLA, would soon become a Minister, stating that there were no differences among them. He also criticized the BJP for its inconsistent behavior, asserting that the RSS would need to register before holding meetings and programmes in public places.
