Jeff McNeil Leads A’s to 8-3 Victory Over Rangers

Sacramento, California - August 14: The Athletics achieved an 8-3 victory over the Texas Rangers in their series opener at Sutter Health Park. Starting pitcher Gage Jump delivered a strong performance, while infielder Jeff McNeil led the offense with a four-hit game. The bullpen played a crucial role in protecting the lead, a feat that has been rare this season.

Early in the game, Jump worked around a bases-loaded situation in the first inning, though an error by second baseman Donovan Walton extended the inning. With two outs and the bases loaded in the first inning, Carlos Cortes hit a double to right-center, putting the A's up 3-0. In the bottom of the eighth inning, McNeil's fourth hit and second double of the game extended the A’s lead to 8-3, completing his double play but stopping at second base to avoid a likely out at third.
