India at 80: The world salutes a rising superpower

As India commemorates its historic 80th Independence Anniversary, global diplomatic missions have joined in honoring the nation's democratic progress, rich cultural legacy, and strong bilateral ties. Despite adverse weather conditions, celebrations in various countries continued with fervor. The Consulate General of India in Shanghai, for instance, organized celebrations despite the typhoon, highlighting the resilience of the Indian diaspora there.

Over 400 members of the Indian community, along with friends of India, participated in the festivities. The US Embassy in India praised the robust relationship between the two nations, stating, "We look forward to strengthening the U.S.-India partnership in the years ahead." Similarly, the Consulate General of India in Atlanta celebrated the milestone with vibrant illuminations and community engagement.

The High Commission of Bangladesh, on the other hand, paid homage to the struggle for freedom, remembering the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in the long Freedom Movement. Meanwhile, the Embassy of India in Budapest participated in the #HarGharTiranga campaign, symbolizing unity and patriotism. The Israeli Embassy in India also extended its greetings, acknowledging India's democratic framework and the growing bond between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Embassy in India highlighted the deep-rooted historical and civilizational ties between the two nations. Similarly, the High Commissioner of Singapore to India highlighted the strong friendship between the two nations, while the French Embassy in India shared the sentiments of its diplomats stationed in the capital.

Finally, at the Red Fort in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the National Flag, accompanied by a 21-Gun Salute by the gunners of the 1721 Field Battery (Ceremonial).
