British actress Bella Ramsey, who is known for her role in Game of Thrones, has expressed regret about not being more rebellious during her teenage years. Ramsey, who uses they/them pronouns, stated that they made a conscious decision to avoid behaving like a typical teenager after hearing criticisms from adults. They were excited to experience teenage freedom when they were cast in the film Sunny Dancer, a movie about a summer camp for young people affected by cancer.

Ramsey played the character Ivy, a young female cancer survivor in remission, and found the experience liberating. However, they now wish they had embraced their rebellious side more during their actual teenage years. Ramsey and the film's writer and director, George Jaques, believe that society needs to do a better job of allowing people to experience grief without expecting them to quickly return to normal.

They also suggest that people should not feel pressured to change their behavior to fit in, as there are others who will accept them for who they are. Ramsey's advice to young people struggling to fit in is to not try to conform, as there are people who will naturally connect with them. Jaques emphasizes that the pressure on young people to change on social media should be addressed, suggesting that society should stop hating on young people instead.
