Golkar Speaks on Meeting of Pro-Prabowo Party Sec-Gens

Muhammad Sarmuji, Secretary-General of the Golkar Party, clarified that the recent gathering of political party secretaries-general backing President Prabowo Subianto's administration was merely a casual meeting. The event, hosted by Gerindra Party Secretary-General Sugiono on Thursday night, August 13, served as a platform for discussing national efforts leading up to Indonesia's 81st Independence Day celebrations.

Sarmuji, speaking to reporters at the parliamentary complex on Friday, August 14, emphasized that the meeting's tone was informal, focusing on reflection rather than any major political debates.

Sarmuji acknowledged that attendees did touch upon political issues during the gathering, but he stressed that the conversation primarily revolved around identifying areas where the coalition must improve to fulfill national independence goals. He also noted that the agenda for the next meeting might delve deeper into the political discussions held during this casual session.

The meeting took place at the official residence of Gerindra Secretary-General Sugiono in the Widya Chandra complex, South Jakarta, on Thursday evening, August 13. This was a day before the MPR Annual Session, which was fast approaching. Democratic Party Secretary-General Herman Khaeron, who attended the event, explained that the gathering was essentially a reunion, as coalition leaders had not convened in a while.

Khaeron noted that participants did discuss upcoming political agendas, focusing on aligning ideas, concepts, and stances amid varying perspectives.

Among the key topics discussed were revisions concerning election laws, regional elections, political parties, and other strategic laws. These discussions aimed to ensure that the interests of all parties were properly accommodated, according to Khaeron, who is also a member of the House Commission VI.
