Gas supply disruption persists in Balochistan as repair work on damaged pipeline awaits security clearance

Quetta continues to grapple with the absence of gas supply, more than three days after the 18-inch gas pipeline was destroyed in Kachhi district. The damage, carried out by an unknown entity using explosives, severed gas supplies to numerous districts, including Quetta. The main pipeline, located in the Bolan riverbed, was targeted in an explosion that sent flames and smoke skyward, leaving towns and cities without gas.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) confirmed the incident, noting that the pipeline was severely damaged. Officials stated that the relevant security authorities had not yet granted clearance for repair crews to access the site and commence repairs. Gas consumers in Kolpur, Mach, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, and Ziarat, as well as various areas within Quetta, faced reduced gas pressure or complete supply interruptions.

SSGC officials confirmed that ready repair teams awaited the necessary security clearance before resuming work.
