ESPN Heavily Criticized for Firing Host Moments Before His Radio Show

ESPN has once again drawn criticism for its method of dismissing on-air personalities, incurring a barrage of backlash from fans on social media. Initially, the network informed analyst Ryan Clark of his termination while he was in the midst of a live broadcast. Clark was, in fact, informed of his dismissal during a commercial break and consequently, he did not complete the final ten minutes of his program.

Following this, ESPN parted ways with Damien Woody, a beloved analyst who had been with the company for fifteen years and still possessed a year left on his contract. The final blow came when former NFL linebacker Bart Scott revealed, via an appearance on "The Joint Venture Show" with Lil Wayne and Craig Carton, that ESPN had informed him of his termination moments before his own "Bart & Carlin" show on ESPN radio.

Scott expressed his disappointment, noting that he had been called to discuss his termination in a phone call, rather than being given the opportunity to be informed in person. His contract was set to expire in September, and he had no ill will towards the situation, stating that he had genuinely enjoyed his time at ESPN. However, the way ESPN handled these dismissals has not gone without public scrutiny, with fans lambasting the network for its tactless approach to cutting ties with their on-air talent.
