Duale claims he used to help Aisha Jumwa read cabinet papers

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale criticized former colleague Aisha Jumwa, questioning her capability to comprehend Cabinet papers while they were both in government. Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, July 15, 2026, Duale revealed that he had frequently assisted Jumwa in reading and explaining Cabinet documents. He stated, "She would have difficulty reading Cabinet papers.

I was the one who would help her." Duale further claimed that Jumwa often faced difficulties in explaining the issues contained within the papers, adding, "And if she struggled to explain, I would assist her." Duale's comments came as he criticized Jumwa's decision to associate with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He questioned her choice to work with Musyoka, a former vice president, and urged Mombasa residents to register and vote in significant numbers during the 2027 General Election. "Why are you now associating with Kalonzo? Kalonzo was the Vice President," Duale remarked. The Health CS urged Coast residents to support President William Ruto, arguing that the region should play a significant role in shaping the country's political future.

He urged voters to register and turn out in large numbers during the polls. Duale also dismissed Gachagua's projection that the Mount Kenya region could garner seven million votes in the 2027 elections. He argued that the voting bloc actually held about 3.8 million votes, which would likely drop to around 2.5 million after excluding Kenyans who lived in the region but were originally from other parts of the country.

"He claims they have seven million votes. There's no such thing," Duale stated. Instead, Duale proposed a political alliance between Coast and North Eastern communities, suggesting that such a coalition could mobilize millions of votes. "I, Hassan Joho, and these leaders, we must unite Coast and North Eastern regions and all Wa-Islam communities," he said.
