Drone attack targets Libyan power station, halts production units

An explosion at the Zawiya power station, located west of Tripoli, Libya, has disrupted several production units, according to the country's General Electricity Company. The disruption has caused several units to go offline, but the company's teams are working diligently to gradually restore electricity, with power supply expected to return to normal soon.

Authorities have not disclosed information about the attackers or the extent of the damage. This incident follows a series of attacks on key infrastructure in Zawiya. Earlier this week, the South Zawiya transformer station was targeted, leading to a complete outage and widespread power cuts in southern areas of the city. Additionally, last week, Zawiya experienced attacks on critical oil sector infrastructure, including fuel storage tanks at the city's oil complex, home to Libya's largest operational refinery.
