Disney Animation Studios Boss Jared Bush Isn't Ruling Out a Possible Kingdom Hearts Movie

Jared Bush, the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, has not yet ruled out the possibility of a Kingdom Hearts movie. Kingdom Hearts fans have been thrilled by recent developments, with footage of the fourth game being showcased at the D23 event. The game features Sora and his friends as they battle the heartless in the Land of the Dead, with Coco's universe as an explorable world to navigate.

Sora is given a keyblade inspired by Héctor's guitar, and there are even calavera facepaints to match. Additionally, a Kingdom Hearts animated series is set to debut on Disney+ at an undetermined date. IGN's Jeffrey Vega questioned Bush about the potential for a feature-length animated film, to which Bush responded that while it's not impossible, nothing is currently in the pipeline.

Despite this cautious stance, the excitement surrounding Kingdom Hearts IV, set for release in late 2027, has made the idea of a movie seem more plausible. The game boasts stunning graphics and features beloved Disney characters like Mickey, Goofy, and Hades, as well as glimpses of Quadratum, a modern-day Tokyo-inspired city. Fans can look forward to more Kingdom Hearts content, including a behind-the-scenes look at the game's development at a D23 panel on August 15.
