Brooks also addressed speculation about his disappointment with fewer James matchups, clarifying, "No, I'm not at all, but it will build up for the games that we play."

Last season saw the continuation of the James-Brooks rivalry through multiple Suns-Lakers games, and during the Oklahoma City Thunder's playoff game against the Lakers, Brooks sat just behind the basket, fueling further speculation about his intentions. This season, James will be joined by a roster filled with All-Stars, including Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey, creating additional challenges for Brooks and the Suns.

The Suns finished the previous season at 45-37, securing a playoff berth via the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament, before being swept in the first round by the Thunder.
