Dad rescues 10-year-old girl from Myrtle Beach rip current, then is swept away

A tragic incident unfolded at a South Carolina beach when Derrick Moore, a 47-year-old father of four from Georgia, lost his life while trying to rescue a young girl from a dangerous rip current. The girl's identity has not been disclosed, but Moore is remembered as a devoted father, according to his family. Moore, described as a loving father by his daughter, vanished after saving the girl but was subsequently pulled under the water.

Emergency services, including the Myrtle Beach Police Department and Fire Department, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard, joined the search for Moore.
