Cyberport fills 50% of phase 5 offices with Lenovo, BrainCo among tenants: chairman

Cyberport, Hong Kong's fintech hub, has completed the construction of its fifth-phase expansion, adding 66,000 square meters of office space. The chairman, Simon Chan Sai-ming, revealed that half of the newly added offices have already been filled by tenants, including major players such as Lenovo and BrainCo, a brain-computer interface firm.

Chan emphasized Cyberport's commitment to driving Hong Kong's AI development as a pillar industry, with the expansion project receiving a budget of HK$5.5 billion from the 2019 policy address. The 10-storey tower, located on a 1.6-hectare waterfront plot, includes 36,000 square meters of office and co-working spaces and a 8,600 square meter data center supporting the hub's AI supercomputing facilities.

Chan expressed Cyberport's openness to welcoming both established companies and start-ups, as long as they contribute to the growth of Hong Kong's innovation and technology industry. The chairman highlighted the importance of talent cultivation, technology, and funding in bolstering AI as a pillar industry. To foster AI literacy, Cyberport launched the "AI for All" initiative, backed by HK$50 million in government funding, aiming to teach AI basics to over 50,000 people over two years.
