Tottenham defender Cristian Romero penned an emotional farewell message to fans after securing a move to Atletico Madrid. The 28-year-old leaves the North London club after five eventful seasons, during which his on-field temperament often overshadowed his world-class talent. Romero signed for Atletico on a five-year deal, with transfer fees reported at just over £34.2 million.

On his farewell post, Romero expressed pride for everything they achieved together, admitting, "I wasn't perfect, but I always gave everything." The centre-back made 156 appearances and scored 13 goals for Spurs across all competitions. During his tenure, Romero received five red cards and missed 11 games via suspensions. Critics pointed to his early departure from Argentina for the club's final league match against Everton.

Romero emphasized that Tottenham was more than just a club for him, calling it his home and where his family and he built a significant part of their lives. He added, "I left with a heart full of memories and enormous pride for everything we lived and..." Romero's best moment with Spurs was helping the club secure their first trophy in 17 years by defeating Manchester United in the 2025 Europa League final.
