Charcoal vendor shot dead, body mutilated in Isiolo

On August 14 in Isiolo County, a 52-year-old charcoal seller named Adan Adow Abdullahi was murdered and his body disfigured in what may have been a bandit ambush. Police discovered his body at his residence after it had reportedly been transferred to the Manyatta Prison in Garbatulla town. It is believed that Abdullahi was attacked while burning charcoal in a forested area on Wednesday afternoon.

The assailants shot him in his left abdomen, with the bullet exiting through his back. They also severed his left hand and mutilated his genitalia. The police are still investigating the incident, including the identity and motives of the attackers.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old artisanal gold digger named Kevin Otieno died in Siaya County after reportedly losing consciousness while working deep within a mining tunnel. The incident took place in Ododo Village, where Otieno was working with other local miners when he collapsed inside the 200-foot-deep tunnel. It is thought that he lost consciousness due to a lack of oxygen.

His coworkers and residents launched a rescue mission and successfully pulled his body from the tunnel. Police arrived at the scene to document and process the body, which was fully clothed and had facial bruises and foam-like fluid coming from the nose. The body was taken to the Yala Level IV Hospital mortuary for preservation while awaiting a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are looking into the owner of the mining tunnel, who reportedly went underground after the incident. They are also expected to determine if proper safety measures were in place at the site at the time of the tragedy.
