Canadian women punch ticket to 2028 Olympic Games in flag football

Canada's women's flag football team has earned a spot in the 2028 Olympic Games taking place in Los Angeles. The squad secured their qualification by defeating Mexico 20-6 in the world championship semifinal held in Düsseldorf, Germany. This victory comes after the Canadian women also triumphed over Austria 40-12 in an earlier quarterfinal.

The top two teams in both the men's and women's world championships will qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games, which marks the debut of flag football as an Olympic sport. With the United States already qualified as the host nation, Canada now faces the United States in the final to vie for the world title. In the men's competition, Canada defeated American Samoa 24-14 in the quarterfinals and will now compete against Italy in the semifinals.
