Building SpeakEasy AI: A Multilingual Voice Agent for Bharat

Voice AI technology is advancing, but language and accessibility challenges persist for many Indian users. In response, I developed SpeakEasy AI, a multilingual voice-based AI assistant tailored for India's diverse linguistic landscape. SpeakEasy AI enables users to converse naturally, receiving AI-generated voice responses in their preferred language.

The system supports English, Hindi, and Hinglish interactions, allowing seamless transitions between languages. The project's core components include Python, LiveKit Agents, Murf AI for voice generation, and an LLM-based conversation engine. Speech-to-text and text-to-speech capabilities facilitate fluid communication between users and the AI agent.

A friendly female voice enhances the conversational experience, making the interface more approachable. To cater to users' varying communication preferences, the system incorporates conversational routing, directing users seeking specialized help, like mathematics practice, to dedicated agents. Additionally, a call analytics dashboard tracks key performance metrics, providing insights into the agent's effectiveness.

Through this project, I gained a profound understanding of the intricate workings of voice agents, emphasizing the importance of natural conversation flow, high-quality voice, multilingual support, effective agent routing, robust error handling, and user-centric design. Looking ahead, I aim to refine SpeakEasy AI by enhancing multilingual conversations, expanding the range of specialist agents, improving conversation memory, refining analytics, and exploring additional real-world applications.

The Murf AI Voice for Bharat Challenge provided an invaluable platform to delve deeper into voice AI technology and its potential for democratizing AI accessibility in India.
