BEA scholars demand 2025 full stipends

Nigerian scholars participating in the Federal Government’s Bilateral Education Agreement scholarship scheme are demanding that their outstanding 2025 stipends be fully paid. The request comes after the closure of the 2024 and 2025 budget cycles on September 30, which could complicate the resolution of unpaid amounts. Although part of the 2025 stipends have been disbursed, only about 23% of the total 2025 stipends have been paid, leaving a significant portion outstanding.

The scholars' union expressed appreciation for the partial payment received but emphasized the urgent need to resolve the remaining arrears. They fear that the closure of the 2024 and 2025 budget cycles may lead to difficulties in settling these outstanding payments. The union has appealed to the Federal Government, particularly the Minister of Education, to ensure the immediate release of the remaining 2025 stipends and address other backlogged payments.
