Arteta relaxed over new Arsenal contract

Mikel Arteta has dismissed worries over his Arsenal contract, stating his commitment to the club is unwavering despite the final year of his current agreement. Signed in 2024, Arteta has steered the team since 2019. When questioned about supporters' concerns ahead of Sunday's Community Shield, Arteta responded with confidence. "No, they don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here, I’m extremely happy," he stated.

He expressed gratitude for his colleagues and anticipates a resolution to the contract situation at the appropriate moment. Arteta emphasized that neither side views the matter as pressing, particularly with Arsenal concentrating on another challenging season and continuing to bolster the squad. "I think because everybody feels comfortable that the time on the contract is not going to be an issue," he noted.

"My will certainly is to be here and I’m very happy here. And my feeling from the club is the same one." The club entered the new season victorious in the Premier League for the first time in 22 years and advancing to the Champions League final in the previous campaign. Arsenal also made significant transfers, notably signing Bruno Guimaraes for £75m from Newcastle United.

Arteta remains committed to further squad improvement, with the club assessing defensive options amid injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber. For Arteta, his own future seems secondary at present.
