Abu Dhabi targets unauthorised car washing in residential areas

Abu Dhabi's City Municipality has initiated a field awareness campaign aimed at dissuading drivers from washing their cars in unauthorized locations. The municipality issued a warning that such practices can lead to water pooling on roads and pathways, potentially diminishing the city's overall appearance. This initiative is part of the municipality's broader "Our Home is Our Responsibility" campaign, which encourages residents to contribute to the preservation of Abu Dhabi's clean and orderly urban environment by curbing practices that could impact the quality of life in residential neighborhoods.

Municipal teams emphasized the detrimental effects of washing vehicles in areas not designated for this purpose, highlighting the accumulation of water on streets and pedestrian zones. Such behavior, according to the municipality, detracts from Abu Dhabi's aesthetic and urban landscape. To address this issue, municipal teams have been conducting visits to residential areas, engaging directly with community members to provide guidance on appropriate practices.

In addition to vehicle inspections, awareness workshops are being organized across different regions to reinforce the campaign's message.

The municipality's objective is to extend the initiative to all segments of the community, fostering greater individual responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and visual appeal of public spaces. Abu Dhabi has also implemented other measures, such as banning 50-seat worker buses from the Mafraq Bridge exit and issuing warnings to e-scooter riders regarding unsafe habits and distractions. Additionally, Abu Dhabi doctors successfully treated a 13-month-old child with a rare immune disorder.
