Zille warns DA councillor candidates not to steal from the public

DA leader Helen Zille has cautioned her party's councillor candidates not to exploit the City of Johannesburg for personal gain ahead of the upcoming local government elections in November. During her unveiling of the candidates at Cosmo City, Zille emphasized the party's stance against corruption and the importance of serving the public.

"Never be tempted to use your position to enrich yourself. All the resources we get in local government will be used to serve the people," she stated. Zille urged her candidates to become exemplary public servants, reminding them that being a councillor is not about status, but about serving the community. We say down with corruption! Down, because that has no place in the DA." Concerning the possibility of the DA winning seats in wards they have not won before, Zille expressed confidence. "You will see more than one. Then there are places where other parties have taken seats from us; we are coming back," she assured. Encouraging South Africans to vote, Zille stressed the importance of a 'pure blue government', urging DA supporters to participate in the elections.

"We want to have a pure blue government; and believe me this time, we can, if every DA supporter comes out to vote. What I always say to people is: do not vote for a party, vote for yourself. How do you want Joburg to look like, for your future, for your children's future, and for your grandchildren's future?"
