The ruling party's move to cancel the approval of YTN's largest shareholder is expected to come up for a vote soon.

During the YTN Yoong Sik-jeol administration, the decision to approve YTN's largest shareholder, Jung-In Ente, sparked controversy among Broadcasting Media Communication Commission (Broadcasting Concern) members. Chairman Go Myung-su announced plans to decide on the upcoming vote. In the proceedings held on April 14 at Government Center Jeongnang, the commission heard each member's position on the matter.

Two opposition-recommended members expressed cautiousness about canceling the decision. "We need further legal review to determine if there are sufficient shortcomings" (Cao So-young member) and "Members' individual burdens should be considered, and we should wait until the Supreme Court's ruling" (Yoon Seong-guen member) they said.

Meanwhile, the ruling party-recommended members stated that the approval of YTN's largest shareholder change was "a decision that goes against freedom of broadcasting, public service, and public interest, and there were procedural irregularities" (Go Myung-su member) and "If the Broadcasting Concern had not waived the appeal for a first-instance ruling, taking post-judgment measures would be a routine procedure" (Yoon Seong-wook member) they added.

However, the ruling member, Ryu Shin-hwan, argued that additional factual evidence should be revealed. "Although broadcasting public interest is higher than economic interests of business entities, further review is needed regarding the committee's flawed review and improper intervention in areas such as the mismanagement of board members, the forced liquidation order, the advisory panel's operation, and the conditions for approval changes" he said.

Despite the committee's thorough legal consultation and deliberation, members' positions remained largely unchanged. Chairman Go suggested a committee-level review and holding a hearing before making a judgment, while Cao So-young and Yoon Seong-guen opposed. The chairman of the committee, Go, stated, "Since we have confirmed these differences, there is no need to delay too long.

I propose to expedite the deliberation and have the commission consider this case." Go Myung-su is in charge of the committee chairmanship role, having avoided reviewing the case due to legal consultation from YTN workers' union.
