Uttar Pradesh: CM Yogi Adityanath Govt's Monitoring Leads To Reduction In AT&C Losses, Strengthens Power System

Lucknow, August 14 - Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's administration has been implementing a cluster-based special campaign to improve Uttar Pradesh's power distribution network, with promising results. The initiative targets high Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) loss areas and has already shown significant progress. Across five DISCOMS, the campaign includes 731 clusters, 1,682 feeders, and 42.45 lakh consumers, representing about 11 percent of the state's total electricity consumers.

The main goals are to boost revenue collection, reduce AT&C losses, strengthen billing systems, and enhance consumer services.

Regular reviews of each cluster, feeder-level monitoring, revenue recovery, billing improvements, and the reduction of technical and commercial losses have been key components of this effort. In the selected "Success Story Clusters," a notable decline in AT&C losses was observed in FY 2025-26 compared to FY 2024-25. KESCO led the reduction with 30.06%, followed by Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam with 23.11%, Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam with 20.94%, Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam with 9.54%, and Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam with 5.58%.

This campaign has also resulted in the recovery of ₹654.31 crore from consumers who had previously defaulted on payments. Moreover, 88,449 new electricity connections have been issued across the state, ensuring better and timely services for general consumers. Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Paramhans Ramchandra Das Ji Maharaj on his death anniversary at Digambar Akhara, while also emphasizing the importance of lower AT&C losses for strengthening the state's power framework.

Dr. Ashish Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of UPPCL, reviewed high-loss feeders and directed intensified efforts in these regions. The review meeting, held via video conference at Shakti Bhawan, included Corporation Managing Director Nitish Kumar and senior officials from various DISCOMS.
