Uttar Pradesh aspirants waiting merit list plans protest outside recruitment board, flags prolong delay

Candidates of the Village Panchayat Officer (VPO) examination are preparing for an indefinite protest outside the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) if they do not receive their final merit list by August 17, 2026. This announcement was made on August 14, 2026. The candidates have been waiting since roughly three months for the release of their VPO merit list, and the prolonged delay is causing significant distress in their lives.

Ravi Pandey, an aspirant shortlisted in the mains examination, expressed their decision to protest outside the recruitment board office from August 17, as the poster has been circulated among shortlisted candidates. The candidates are coordinating through social media applications and the Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch, a Prayagraj-based group of competitive government recruitment examination aspirants, has also come forward in support of the VPO candidates.

Pankaj Pandey, associated with the Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch, emphasized that the prolonged delay is a criminal act as the precious years of young people are being wasted. He urged every job aspirant in Uttar Pradesh to stand with the VPO candidates, stating that the board and the government are playing with the lives of young people.

UPSSSC is the recruitment agency entrusted with direct recruitment to all Group C and D posts specified by the State Government through notification. The VPO for 1,468 posts was announced by UPSSSC on May 16, 2023.
