US could not verify Israeli warnings of Iran plots against Trump, sources say

The United States has received multiple warnings from Israel concerning potential Iranian assassination plots against President Donald Trump, according to U.S. officials and former officials familiar with the matter. These intelligence reports, passed to U.S. intelligence agencies and, in some instances, directly to White House officials, detailed possible scenarios including sniper attacks or knife assaults on Trump during public events.

The intelligence, which started mounting in the run-up to a 12-day conflict in June 2025, ramped up as the U.S. prepared to launch military action against Iran in February of the same year. The most comprehensive warning was given just prior to the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, in July, according to both a U.S. official and another individual familiar with the details.

Israeli officials had briefed the White House on intelligence suggesting Iran might attempt to murder Trump, possibly employing a shoulder-fired missile, while he was aboard Air Force One.
