US blocks Israeli request for airstrikes on Syria, Channel 13 reports

As tensions escalate in southern Syria, the United States reportedly denied an Israeli request to conduct airstrikes on targets within Syrian territory, according to Channel 13 news outlet. The report, which did not specify the nature of the targets, emerged on Sunday following reports of Israeli forces' activities in the region.

Channel 13 cited Israeli forces detaining civilians in Quneitra and setting up a checkpoint, as well as Israeli forces firing at homes in the village of Maariya in western Daraa province. These actions have intensified the situation in southern Syria, where Israel has been conducting frequent incursions, establishing military checkpoints, searching civilians and homes, and detaining individuals. Israel has reportedly justified these actions by citing security threats in the area.
