Troops nab high-profile terrorist, 60 collaborators in fresh operations

The Nigerian Army has apprehended a high-profile terrorist operative, closely linked to a notorious terrorist leader, and 60 suspected collaborators in separate operations across different regions. These arrests come as recent successes in military operations, reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

In Kaduna, personnel from the 4 Demonstration Battalion captured a suspected ISWAP operative who was reportedly working closely with terrorist leader Dogo Gide. The suspect was apprehended at a checkpoint called Kadage Check Point while transporting seven sets of camouflage uniforms intended for a terrorist camp. Initial interrogations suggest that the suspect was a trusted confidant of Dogo Gide and had been providing logistical support.

Meanwhile, troops from the 226 Battalion, backed by hunters, conducted a raid at a motor park in the Gombi area of Adamawa after receiving intelligence on suspects disguising themselves as menial workers and hawkers. This operation resulted in the arrest of 60 individuals currently under investigation. In Zamfara, the 1 Brigade recovered an RPG bomb during a patrol near Tunga-Jambako in Maradun Local Government Area.

In Benue, Operation WHIRL STROKE led to the arrest of five suspected terrorists during offensive actions in suspected terror hideouts located in Chito, Jootar, and Ikyior within Ukum Local Government Area. The operation also saw the destruction of these hideouts, along with the recovery of two motorcycles, two locally fabricated guns, and other materials.

Finally, in Borno, troops intercepted a group consisting of five women and seven children, believed to be family members of terrorists. This group had reportedly fled from a terrorist camp in Gazuwa.
