Titans Safety Handed Hefty NFL Suspension After Preseason Opener

The Tennessee Titans will be without defensive back Nazeeh Johnson for the first six games of the 2026 NFL season due to a suspension. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Johnson violated the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy and will miss the games starting on Aug. 30, with the eligibility for reinstatement set for Oct.

19. Johnson, who was signed by the Titans this offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, had a stellar tenure with the Chiefs where he recorded 66 tackles, one sack, and three passes defensed, contributing to their two Super Bowl victories. Although the Titans will have to rely on other members of their secondary, including Cor Dale Flott, Alontae Taylor, Keydrain Calligan, and Joshua Williams, to compensate for Johnson’s absence, the loss of this veteran defensive back is a significant setback for the team’s defense.

Johnson, a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, played college football at Marshall, where he logged impressive statistics including 302 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, 18 passes defensed, seven interceptions, and one touchdown from 2017 to 2021.
