Tema East MP intervenes in TMA-TDC dispute

Tema East MP Isaac Ashai Odamtten has stepped in to mediate the ongoing land dispute between the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and the Tema Development Company Limited. The conflict erupted at Tema Community One, Sites 3 and 8, after TMA Chief Executive Ebi Bright ordered the cessation of construction work, citing lack of proper approvals and permits.

Odamtten stressed his top priority is safeguarding residents' interests while ensuring both state bodies adhere to proper procedures in resolving their disagreements. He has urged an immediate halting of construction activities until all parties convene to discuss the matter.

Tema Traditional Council Chief, Nii Armarh Soponu I, has also called for peaceful resolution of the disagreement, warning that the conflict could destabilize the area, especially with preparations underway for the Homowo Festival. He urged TMA and TDC to prioritize dialogue and seek an amicable solution to their dispute. The situation was further de-escalated when the Tema Regional Police Command intervened, creating an opportunity for the parties to engage in constructive conversation.
