Telangana Govt empowers HMDA to issue TDRs

The Telangana government has recently granted the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) the authority to issue Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) for various projects. These TDRs can be utilized within the HMDA for the projects executed by HMDA in the Core Urban Region (CURE), Peri Urban Region (PURE), and Secunderabad Cantonment area.

According to the official orders, HMDA TDRs can be used anywhere within the HMDA area. A copy of the TDR Certificate or proceedings issued by HMDA must be provided to the respective urban local body or the Future City Development Authority for record-keeping, as specified in the orders. TDRs are granted in exchange for cash compensation for land acquired for public purposes. They can be utilized for constructing additional floors or sold at their existing market value.
