Telangana CM Revanth Reddy warns Congress over SIR deletions at party meet

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has cautioned party members that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, concluding on August 10, could result in a 21% loss of votes. Internal reports from constituencies and districts revealed that ministers, MLAs, and senior leaders, particularly those in charge at booth levels, were responsible for the deletions.

Reddy instructed them to conduct thorough reviews, identify issues, and correct them before the draft electoral rolls are published on August 17. He also emphasized that the party would not tolerate any failures, threatening action as per AICC directions. The Chief Electoral Officer, C Sudarshan Reddy, had earlier disclosed that 3,38,26,448 enumeration forms were distributed and 2,64,73,616 forms were submitted by voters.

Of the remaining 73,52,832 voters, 73,52,832 have been marked as 'Absent, Shifted or Dead'. The CM directed the in-charge ministers to assist voters in enrolling through Form 6 and rectify issues before the final rolls are published. The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has demanded complete disclosure of data from the EC regarding the uncollectable forms, with 45 lakhs of the 73,52,832 voters marked as permanently shifted and over 11 lakhs absent or untraceable.
