Stonebwoy defends Ghanaian men against ‘stingy’ tag

Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has refuted the notion that Ghanaian men are cheap, arguing that their spending habits are based on careful consideration of their financial situation. During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Madam Joyce, the musician addressed stereotypes about Ghanaian men's reluctance to spend on women.

Stonebwoy contended that labeling men as stingy is a misconception, as their financial decisions are influenced by a realistic assessment of their budget. He explained that some men are unfairly branded as stingy due to their inability to meet financial demands beyond their means. The artist emphasized that modern women expect men to spend lavishly without considering their financial constraints.

Stonebwoy advised men to be honest about their financial capabilities and refrain from making promises they cannot keep. He also urged men who wish to treat their partners or loved ones to follow through with their commitments, even if it entails bearing the financial repercussions. Comparing men from Ghana and Nigeria, the artist noted that while Nigerian men are typically more willing to take financial risks when spending on women, the final decision to spend ultimately rests with the individual, taking into account their priorities, financial capacity, and willingness to accept the consequences of their choices.
