Saudi Arabia condemns Iranian attacks on two UAE tankers in Strait of Hormuz

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Friday delivered a forceful condemnation of Iranian attacks on two tankers owned by the UAE’s ADNOC as they navigated the Strait of Hormuz. The nation labeled the actions as a reprehensible repetition of prior assaults on commercial vessels. In a formal statement, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these repeated attacks signal a dangerous escalation and pose a direct threat to maritime safety and global energy supplies.

The Saudi-led assertion declared the attacks as a blatant infringement of international laws and norms, and a brazen defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2817. This resolution unequivocally stressed the necessity to uphold the rights and freedom of navigation for commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and vehemently condemned any actions or threats that could impede maritime traffic.

Saudi Arabia unequivocally held Iran accountable for any repercussions arising from the perpetuation of these attacks and demanded Tehran to immediately cease the violations and respect the relevant international laws.

The Saudi kingdom underscored that the security of the region and the safety of international navigation are a collective responsibility. It warned that the continuation of such attacks is neither acceptable nor tolerable. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its complete solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and affirmed its support for the measures the UAE has implemented to protect its sovereignty, security, and national assets.
