Satisfied with the offer but would be happy when those killed Bharat Tiwari be punished, hanged: demands Tiwari’s family members

Tiwari's family members expressed their satisfaction with the Bihar government's announcement of financial assistance and a government job to a family member, but they insisted that the offer would not be accepted until those responsible for the alleged police encounter that killed their son are punished, hanged. The incident occurred on June 17, 2026, in Bilauti village, Bhojpur district.

Tiwari's mother Asha Devi demanded the status of a "martyr" for her son and emphasized the need for justice and strict punishment for those involved in the fake encounter. His father, Kashinath Tiwari, also a retired police constable, echoed the same sentiments, demanding justice and the harshest punishment for those involved. His elder brother, Chandan Tiwari, reiterated the demand for justice and immediate custody of the officials responsible for the killing, emphasizing that they should be given the harshest punishment, even death.

The family requested the government to discuss the offer made by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in their family before making a decision, with the understanding that whatever decision is made by the family will be followed. The government had suspended, arrested, and jailed the policeman Akshay Kumar who allegedly fired the first shot at Tiwari, and a murder case under section 103(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita was also lodged against five policemen. The officials involved have been transferred and suspended, according to a police official.
