Samsung is working on an AirPods Max 2 rival, likely for 2027

Samsung is reportedly developing a new pair of wireless over-ear headphones, internally named the Galaxy H1, according to a report from SamMobile. The headphones were discovered in code strings within the Galaxy Wearable app, along with early illustrations suggesting the product's existence. The presence of Bluetooth connectivity support in Samsung's companion app indicates that the headphones will connect wirelessly.

However, details about the launch date, pricing, and specifications remain unclear, with SamMobile speculating that the headphones could arrive sometime in 2027. This would be Samsung's first major foray into the wireless headphone market in years, following the 2015 release of the Level Over model, which boasted active noise cancellation, NFC pairing, and up to 15 hours of battery life.

The current wireless audio landscape is dominated by established players like Apple, Bose, and others, with a focus on noise cancellation, sound quality, comfort, and platform integration. Samsung's Galaxy Buds lineup already provides a strong foundation in wireless audio, and a full-size headphone could offer users a more substantial option for long listening sessions, travel, or desk work.

Samsung could position the Galaxy H1 in the premium segment, targeting Apple's AirPods Max 2, or pursue a lower price point comparable to Bose's QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) and Nothing's Headphone 1. Pricing will ultimately determine the headphones' reception in the market. For now, the Galaxy H1 remains largely speculative, as Samsung has not officially confirmed the project.
