Samsung chairman remains unpaid; SK Group chief receives 1.75 bln won in H1

SEOUL, Aug. 14 - In the first half, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong continued to receive no compensation, while SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won earned 1.75 billion won (US$1.23 million), according to regulatory filings. Lee has maintained this practice since 2017. SK Inc., the holding company of SK Group, paid Chey 1.75 billion won in the first half.

Among local business tycoons, Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won led with the highest compensation at 45.58 billion won, followed by Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn at 11.58 billion won. Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin also collected 11.2 billion won from his company's affiliates. LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo received a total compensation of 4.83 billion won, with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung taking home 2.25 billion won from Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Corp., and Hyundai Mobis Co.
