President Lee Jae Myung has decided not to take his customary summer vacation this year, a move that is uncommon among presidents who typically take a break between late July and early August. Lee himself has stated that he finds staying at home to be a form of rest, highlighting his reputation as a workaholic. Despite his clear intent to remain productive, his decision has sparked speculation about potential reasons behind his choice.

Recent polls indicate a significant decline in Lee's approval ratings, with the latest Realmeter poll showing a record-low 43.3 percent approval. This rating marks the fourth consecutive weekly decline, with his disapproval rating now at 53 percent, surpassing the Democratic Party of Korea's 44.6 percent approval rating for the first time under his administration.

Similar trends were noted in other surveys, such as Gallup Korea, which reported Lee's approval rating at 44 percent, the lowest level since his inauguration in June 2025, and a 2 percent drop from previous estimates. These findings collectively suggest that Lee's support is experiencing a steady decline.
