Put last season’s disappointment behind, focus on new one …Kotoko Board Chairman urges players

Asante Kotoko's Board Chairman, Mr James Osei Brown, has called upon the team to leave the disappointments of last season behind and concentrate on the upcoming 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. The Porcupine Warriors have intensified their preparations for the new season under the guidance of their new South African Head Coach, Eric Tinkler.

Currently based in Accra, the team is undergoing a pre-season program. In a meeting with the players, Mr Brown explained the club's decision to bring in a new technical team and personnel, stating that these changes were made to bolster the squad and enhance its prospects, all with the objective of bettering the players' development and fulfilling the club's long-term goals.

He emphasized that the changes were made with the players' growth in mind, urging them to match the dedication being exhibited by the board. Referring to the disappointing 2025/26 season, Mr Brown reminded the players that they had given their best, but the results were not satisfactory. He assured them that they were embarking on a new beginning.

Mr Brown urged the players to enter the new campaign with determination and renewed focus, insisting that the efforts behind the scenes must be matched by the commitment of the playing body. He highlighted that the club is aiming to match the intensity of their preparation, and in turn, he wants the players to reciprocate that same commitment.

The club will face their arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, in the 2026 Democracy Cup, providing Coach Tinkler an opportunity to evaluate his squad before the competitive season. Following this, Kotoko will kick off their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign away against newly promoted Debibi United, with the goal of starting the season on a positive note.
