President’s Medal for Meritorious Service award to CPI

The President's Medal for Meritorious Service, awarded for Independence Day 2026, has been bestowed upon Circle Police Inspector Bavuddeen Rukmuddeen Gaddekar of the Malmaruti Police Station in Belagavi. This honor acknowledges his exceptional service in ensuring law and order, preventing and solving crimes, and effectively investigating cybercrime cases.

Gaddekar, who joined the Police Department in 2005 and rose to the position of Circle Police Inspector in 2016, has been involved in various units including the Crime Branch, Cyber, Economics and Narcotics, and his current assignment at Malmaruti Police Station.

Among his notable achievements, Gaddekar is credited with solving 28 significant cases, including those linked to the Irani gang, recovering over a kilogram of gold. He has also handled 59 house robbery cases resulting in substantial recoveries. His leadership in cybercrime investigations led to the freezing of funds in 133 cyber fraud cases, with returns of ₹4.95 crore to victims.

Similarly, three other officers have been honored: Reserve Police Inspector Jaffersab H. Sheikh from the City Armed Reserve Unit, Assistant Sub Inspector Sanjeev Kumar Kurade from the Special Division, and Mahadev Kashid of the City Crime Records Bureau. They were awarded the 'DG and IGP Commendation Disc' medal for 2025-26, recognizing their outstanding service.
