Plateau govt creates new ministry

Plateau State Government has recently made the decision to establish a new ministry, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. This new ministry will be tasked with overseeing the state's response to humanitarian crises, social welfare, and poverty alleviation efforts. During a State Executive Council meeting held earlier that day at the Government House in Jos, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, announced the approval of the new ministry.

Ramnap explained that the creation of this ministry will facilitate better coordination and delivery of humanitarian interventions by bringing together the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Trauma Center. She added that the ministry will enhance collaborations between the state and the Federal Government on humanitarian and poverty-reduction programs, ensuring quicker and more effective assistance to vulnerable communities and individuals.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang's administration has described the establishment of the ministry as a strategic move to bolster government interventions for vulnerable citizens and enhance the state's ability to respond effectively to humanitarian emergencies and poverty-related challenges.
