On August 12, a total solar eclipse was witnessed across various parts of Europe, captivating onlookers with its celestial event. The moon completely covered the sun in the Javalambre Astrophysical Observatory in Spain, providing a breathtaking spectacle. Researchers from the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco prepared for a global live broadcast of the eclipse in Villalibado, Spain. People gathered on the Feldberg mountain in Germany to observe the partial solar eclipse.

In London, a plane flew in front of the sun during the partial eclipse, creating a unique sight over Greenwich Park. The Torrespana TV tower in Madrid stood silhouetted against the sun in the last moments of the eclipse in Spain. Spectators at Orzan Beach in A Coruna, Galicia, and at Abbadia in Hendaye, France, also enjoyed the celestial event.

Special viewing glasses were used by people in Brussels, Belgium, and Madrid, Spain, to safely watch the partial solar eclipse. Enthusiasts in Madrid donned protective glasses while awaiting the celestial phenomenon at the Temple of Debod.

A farmer in Jacobsdorf, Germany, stood in a meadow before the total phase of the eclipse, while a bull in southern Kosovo stood in front of the sun as the moon completely blocked it. The sunset was watched at the El Rayo Verde viewpoint in San Vicente de la Barquera, Spain, during the first moments of the eclipse on August 9.
