Osun Election: 1.9m PVCs collected, 432, 843 unclaimed – INEC

Ahead of the Osun State governorship election, set for Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected. This constitutes 81.50 percent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state. Mohammed Haruna, chairman of INEC's Information and Voter Education Committee, announced these figures on Friday.

There remain 432,843 uncollected PVCs, accounting for the remaining 18.50 percent. These uncollected cards have been handed over to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as per INEC's established procedures.

Some voters have applied for replacement cards after their original PVCs were lost, damaged, or defaced. Out of those who requested replacements, 6,101 individuals printed downloadable copies of their PVCs. INEC has also provided a detailed polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of collected PVCs on its official website. This move aims to enhance transparency and keep stakeholders informed about voter registration and collection across the state.

Haruna confirmed INEC's readiness for the election, reassuring political parties, civil society organizations, media, and the general public of the commission's commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on the scheduled day.
