One ticket, one gas station, $1 billion: Powerball’s drought ends in Illinois

A winning Powerball ticket sold at a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, Illinois ended a three-month jackpot drought. The lucky ticket was one of four sold for the Wednesday night drawing, all matching five numbers but missing the Powerball. The winning numbers were 4-26-66-67-69 with a Powerball of 9. The $1 billion jackpot, the eighth largest in Powerball history, can be taken as an annuity of $1 billion paid over 29 years or a lump sum of $450.5 million.

The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292 million. Stephen Durrell, chair of the Powerball Product Group, congratulated the winner, emphasizing the game's ability to change lives. While four other tickets hit five numbers, they won $1 million each. A Massachusetts ticket won $2 million with the "Power Play" option. After this win, the jackpot will reset to $20 million for the next drawing on Saturday.
