Nigel Farage romps to victory, but Count Binface grabs 27pc in bizarre UK by-election

On August 14, British politician Nigel Farage secured a convincing victory in a by-election for the Clacton constituency, despite his chief rival, Count Binface, receiving a surprisingly large share of the vote. Farage, who resigned his parliamentary seat due to an investigation into his finances, claimed 63% of the ballots, while Count Binface, a self-styled "intergalactic space warrior," garnered 27% of the total.

Analysts had predicted a Farage win but underestimated the popularity of Binface, who campaigns wearing a rubbish bin on his head. The race saw a turnout of around 44%, down from the 59% seen in the 2024 general election. The election was shunned by major political parties, including the governing Labour Party, as a stunt by Farage to avoid scrutiny over his financial dealings.

Farage did not attend the count, citing police warnings of an organized attempt to disrupt the results. Binface expressed respect for the voters' decision, stating that if the majority of Clacton residents support Farage, it should be acknowledged.
