NEET aspirant says mark changed from 520 to 85; High Court seeks original OMR sheet from NTA

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide the original OMR sheet and score cards of a NEET-UG 2026 aspirant who claimed her marks were altered from 520 to 85. This came after a petition filed by 19-year-old Diksha Devi, who appeared for the exam twice, on May 3 and June 21. Devi initially downloaded her OMR sheet from the NTA website on July 13 and believed she scored 520 marks, but after cross-checking with the downloaded OMR sheet, she discovered her actual score was 85 out of 720.

The petitioner received a different OMR sheet on July 17, which led to discrepancies between the answers she marked and the ones on the new sheet. After raising a complaint, the NTA informed her via email on July 19 that her result was 520 marks, which remained unchanged until July 27 when it was reverted to 85. The petitioner now seeks directions for the NTA to consider her candidature based on the initial 520 marks and allow her to take part in the counseling process provisionally.
