LuLu Hypermarket celebrates ‘India Utsav 2026’ for India’s 80th Independence Day

On August 15, 2026, India's global partners, including France, Russia, Australia, Maldives, Israel, Singapore, Nepal, and Bhutan, extended greetings to the country on its 80th Independence Day. The leaders praised India's achievements and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin took to social media to congratulate India's President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Macron expressed hope that the partnership would enhance international security and stability, highlighting the successful development of Russia-India relations in various areas and coordinated efforts within multilateral institutions like the UN, SCO, BRICS, and others.

Putin noted the strong strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi, emphasizing the fruitfulness of their cooperation.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese lauded India's progress as the world's largest democracy and fastest-growing major economy, recalling Prime Minister Modi's recent visit and the ever-growing Australia-India relationship. He expressed admiration for India's history, culture, and diversity, and pledged to deepen Australia's engagement in various areas with the support of the Indian community in Australia.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu reiterated his country's commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with India, praising India's journey since 1947 as an inspiration to developing nations like the Maldives. He affirmed the strengthening of the close partnership between the two nations built on mutual respect and shared prosperity.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog wished India's leaders and people a happy Independence Day, expressing hope for continued strengthening of the friendship between Israel and India. Singapore's Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam congratulated President Murmu and the Indian people, emphasizing the enduring interest of both countries in a peaceful, open, and connected region.

He highlighted the multifaceted Singapore-India ties and the robust Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, confident that both nations would identify fresh opportunities for mutual benefit.

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra 'Balen' Shah extended heartfelt greetings to Prime Minister Modi and the Indian people, wishing for the deep historical ties and close people-to-people relations to continue strengthening. Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay also conveyed warm wishes on the occasion, expressing hope for the flourishing friendship between Bhutan and India.

Former Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih called India's journey since independence an inspiration to developing countries and pledged for stronger cooperation between the Maldives and India. Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated India on its Independence Day, asserting that bilateral ties were stronger than ever due to the personal relationship between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Modi.

He emphasized the innovative, resilient, and forward-looking nature of the partnership, stating that it makes both nations and the broader Indian Ocean region safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
