Lions top Stampeders 30-26 for third straight win

Calgary Stampeders faced off against B.C. Lions in a game that resulted in the Lions securing their third consecutive victory. Nathan Rourke, the quarterback for the Lions, contributed to the win by both running and passing for touchdowns, with Keon Hatcher Sr. also scoring a touchdown. Zander Horvath, a running back for the Lions, had an impressive performance with eight TDs.

Sean Whyte kicked a 45-yard field goal for the Lions, while Calgary's Erik Brooks had a touchdown catch. Quincy Vaughn scored for Calgary, his eighth major of the season. Damien Alford caught a two-point conversion for Calgary. McAtamney, the kicker for Calgary, kicked multiple field goals of 55, 13, 29, and 44 yards, but missed a crucial 39-yard attempt.

Vernon Adams Jr., the quarterback for Stampeders, was injured early in the fourth quarter and didn't return to the game. Dedrick Mills, the CFL leading rusher, also left the game due to injury. Despite McAtamney's 44-yard field goal just before halftime, giving Calgary an 18-13 lead, the Lions managed to take control in the second half.

Horvath contributed significantly with a 41-yard run, putting the Lions deep into Calgary territory. Rourke completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Hatcher to give the Lions a two-point lead, which they carried over into the fourth quarter. Whyte added a 45-yard field goal to pad the Lions' advantage. Calgary managed to score on their next possession through a short-yardage touchdown by Vaughn, but Love threw an interception on the subsequent two-point conversion attempt.

Kelon Thomas recovered a fumble on a punt for Calgary, but they were unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Calgary regained the lead with a final score of 26-23, just before the end of the game. The Lions will face the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Aug. 23, while the Stampeders will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Aug. 29.
