‘Like a dream’: Saskatoon’s Jordan Carroll looks ahead after double Commonwealth win

Jordan Carroll, a 20-year-old gymnast from Saskatoon, is in awe of winning two gold medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. "How much can you really sink it in? It still feels like a dream," he said. The team event gold last month fueled his confidence, leading to his personal-best pommel horse score of 15.000. The highlight for Carroll was presenting his heart to his father after landing in the solo event and seeing his dad shed a few tears.

Carroll, born in St. John's, N.L., has called Saskatoon home since infancy and remains connected to his local club, where he has trained with coach Markos Baikas since the beginning of his gymnastics career. Carroll expressed his pride in representing his country, club, and province, adding that his club celebrated his win with balloons, a sash, and a handshake.

Baikas, who watched Carroll compete, recalled his natural talent for the sport, noting his potential to excel at the Olympic Games. The Commonwealth Games marked Carroll's biggest achievement so far, but he aims to qualify and compete at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam this fall, with the ultimate dream of competing at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

His latest wins have only intensified his determination, and Carroll believes he can reach the world's best gymnasts. Balancing his studies in electrical engineering at the University of Saskatchewan and his training is a challenge Carroll navigates with the right mindset and support.
