Kushner to visit Israel to discuss Trump's Gaza plan

Kushner is set to travel to Israel next week to discuss Trump's Gaza plan, which recently faced rejection from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to officials. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and envoy, along with Nickolay Mladenov, the high representative for Gaza of the Board of Peace, will visit Israel and Egypt. This trip follows Netanyahu's public rejection of the 15-point plan proposed by Mladenov, which requires Hamas to hand over its weapons to a new Palestinian governing committee in Gaza.

Despite Israel's ongoing near daily strikes in Gaza since the ceasefire began in October 2025, the United States and Israel share the goal of a demilitarized Hamas, according to an unnamed official. The Board of Peace's latest part of the plan involves a phased Israeli withdrawal from much of the Gaza Strip, though Netanyahu has expressed skepticism and doubts about Hamas's willingness to disarm.
