Kurnnol plans to plant 45 lakh saplings to enhance green cover

On August 14, 2026, District Collector A. Siri unveiled a bold initiative to plant 45 lakh saplings in Kurnool district, aiming to boost the region's green cover and forest area by a minimum of one percentage point. The ambitious target was announced during the launch of a massive plantation drive at the Tehsildar office in Emmiganur, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations. At the event, the Collector herself planted a sapling and encouraged officials, students, and NGOs to take the environmental protection pledge.

According to Ms. Siri, the special drive was designed to instill a sense of patriotism, social responsibility, and environmental awareness among the people.
